I love to cook, I love to eat. Period. I am happiest when I'm doing either, sometimes both. I worked in a professional kitchen while studying psychology and found that cooking and eating took up most of my energy and dedication. What about this blog? This was started as a way to spread the recipe-love amongst friends and family but I also hope it will help me communicate with like-minded people all over who are eager to help one another in the exciting disciplines of cooking and eating. Welcome to my world.

I'm Milagritos and live in Sydney with my mother, my splendid and very patient husband, and three comical and very patient dogs.  I love to cook, I love to eat. Period. I am happiest when I'm doing either, sometimes both. I worked in a professional kitchen while studying architectural psychology and found that cooking and eating took up most of my energy and dedication...it's been uphill from there.

This blog's name came about one evening courtesy of my very tipsy friends (you know who you are). Despite the comical nature of the name, the word tucker in Australia denotes food, plain and simple. Mothertucka to me means great food, in really good company and in a very convivial environment. It also says that I quite often get in trouble trying to create food that might pose a challenge to my skills or even to my tastebuds all in an attempt to keep culinary boredom at bay...this is when I starting swearing both at the food and myself.

This blog was created as a way to spread the recipe-love amongst friends and family, but I also hope it will help me communicate with like-minded people all over who are eager to help one another in the awe-inspiring disciplines of cooking and eating. I am mostly interested in food that excites the senses, interesting food from around the globe. Again, the food I like to make (and consume) might present challenges for my current skills but I am happy to post about my successes as well as my failures. I'm here to learn. I'm also an avid cookbook collector and am constantly inspired by the recipes in my books but I tend to adapt and/or improvise recipes to suit my palate.

As happy as I am about starting this blog, I'm new to blogging and my first language is Spanish. I intent to improve my blogging and photographic skills and, of course, my English. You will see mistakes, though. Get used to them. Welcome to my world.
